Nicholas v European Southern Observatory 8.2m Telescope

R44 region Carina Nebula, imaged by Nicholas Clarke with a FLI ProLine 16803 from his backyard

PlaneWave 0.43m CDK17 telescope in my backyard

 The image on the left of R44 region of the Carina nebula was taken by myself, using a commercially available FLI ProLine 16803 camera, mounted on my 0.43m diameter PlaneWave CDK 17 telescope in my roll-off roof observatory in our back yard, in Cohuna, Australia.

European Southern Observatory 8.2m telescope

 The image on the right, taken by the European Southern Observatory MUSE instrument on their 8.2m diameter Very Large Telescope, high in the Atacama Desert in Chile. Their telescope, one of four, cost around  €350,000,000 or USD 400,411,000. Mine cost a lot less!
